AMERICAN TECHNOLOGY WEEK 2026 HIGHLIGHTS MONGOLIA’S AI OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES

Ulaanbaatar, September 8, 2026 — AmCham Mongolia hosted the multi-level symposium “Beyond Borders: The Age of Artificial Intelligence” as part of American Technology Week 2026, bringing together representatives of government, the diplomatic community, and the private sector to discuss artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, cybersecurity, and Mongolia’s opportunities in the rapidly evolving global technology landscape.

Opening remarks were delivered by H.E. Richard Buangan, U.S. Ambassador to Mongolia, and Mr. B. Myagmarnaran, State Secretary of the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Communication. Ambassador Buangan highlighted the opportunities AI and digital technologies offer Mongolia, while emphasizing the importance of building the physical and institutional infrastructure needed to support their development.

“AI, technology, and digital innovation will be the focus of the next chapter of the U.S.-Mongolia relationship,” he said.

Jayne Stancavage, Vice President at Intel, shared insights into the evolution of AI—from machine learning and large language models to agentic AI—and discussed global developments in AI training, inference, and computing infrastructure. Speaking about Mongolia’s progress, she encouraged the country to approach AI as a practical tool for addressing real challenges rather than waiting for a single perfect solution.

“Keep doing it, keep going for it,” she said.

The panel discussion, moderated by AmCham Mongolia Board Member Manduul Baasansuren, featured Jayne Stancavage; Bilguun Davaasuren, CFO of Infinite Solutions; and Khurelbaatar Bat-Orshikh, Founder and CEO of OneplaceHR Technologies Inc. The speakers discussed the practical use of AI in Mongolian businesses, fintech and human resources, as well as cybersecurity, data infrastructure, and the challenges facing technology startups.

A key message throughout the symposium was that Mongolia has the talent and potential to benefit from the global AI transformation, but realizing that opportunity will require stronger digital infrastructure, cybersecurity, a supportive regulatory environment, skilled professionals, and a stable investment climate. Participants also emphasized the importance of international cooperation and creating conditions that enable Mongolian technology companies to compete globally.
