Oyu Tolgoi has officially handed over a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) to the German-Mongolian Institute for Resources and Technology. The advanced equipment, designed for high-precision mineral analysis, was provided through an investment of MNT 276 million.
During the official handover ceremony, Helmut Kulitz, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Mongolia, highlighted that within the framework of the longstanding friendly cooperation between Germany and Mongolia, consistent efforts have been made to strengthen the research capacity of the German-Mongolian Institute for Resources and Technology with the support of Mongolia’s Ministry of Education. He also expressed his appreciation for the private sector’s leading role and active contribution to these efforts.
In addition, B. Battsengel, Director of the German-Mongolian Institute for Resources and Technology, expressed gratitude to Oyu Tolgoi for its long-term and tangible contribution not only to the university’s operations, but also to the education of Mongolia’s children and youth - the future of the country.
Speaking on the occasion, S. Munkhsukh, Chief Executive Officer of Oyu Tolgoi, stated:

One of the mining industry’s key responsibilities is to bring mineral resources into economic circulation with the highest efficiency possible, using environmentally responsible technologies and methods. This laboratory will be of great importance not only to Oyu Tolgoi, but also to other companies operating in Mongolia’s mining sector.”
