Mongolia’s Smart Mining Market is Growing

Mongolia is of great interest to companies in the field of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) with Smart Mining solutions market to reach $10 million soon, says report of Finnish-Russian developer of Artificial Intelligence and IIoT solutions ZYFRA.  “Mongolia is of great interest to companies in the field of Industrial Internet of Things. Digital solutions for mining are one of the prospective areas. Currently, this market is valued at around $5-7 million annually. According to my estimates, it will reach USD 10 million very soon,” said Alexander Knyazev, Regional Sales Director of VIST Group, a subsidiary of ZYFRA Group.

On 10-12 April 2019, VIST participated in Mongolia Mining 2019 International Mining & Oil Expo in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia and presented its solutions for smart mining, including a complex of digital technologies for controlling the production processes of open-pit mining operations on the basis of robotic loading and transporting systems.

VIST is developing the robotized mining technology for open pits – a unique technology to turn all equipment (excavators, dump trucks, loaders, drilling rigs and railway vehicles) into autonomous or teleoperated exploitation mode. A complex of digital technologies for controlling the production processes of open-pit mining operations includes remote control operators' workplace and the required number of infrastructure components.

“We are looking for a reliable partner in Mongolia to promote our solutions. We expect that the first joint project with Mongolia will take off in a year or two. In five years we are targeting a one third of Mongolia’s digital solutions for mining market share,” Alexander Knyazev added. Recently VIST has entered into an agreement with Mongolian company Temso to jointly promote video surveillance and collision avoidance systems for mining equipment and transport Orlaco. “Orlaco systems help to increase safety of mining equipment, reduce of maneuvering time and control of "blind" zones. We see a huge potential for this solution in Mongolia”, Alexander Knyazev said.

VIST is an industry leader in the development and implementation of information technologies for digital mining, metal and other enterprises, with eight offices over the world. In strategic partnership with ZYFRA Group, the company is also developing AI and IoT based solutions for heavy industries. It currently has operations in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Russia, Morocco, Peru.

Intelligent Mine is complex of digital technologies for the production processes management of open-pit mining operations on the basis of robotic loading and transporting systems, as well as industry solutions in the field of the Internet of things, artificial intelligence and predictive analytics.
Optimization based on artificial intelligence allows to distribute robotic dump trucks along routes in an open cycle in accordance with the multi-criteria optimization approach.

Mining value chain management based on transition of process managemtnt to the whole technological chain including creating remote operation center and the whole predictive production analysis. Planning of mining operations taking into account production plans and analysis of industrial safety. Achieving the optimal balance of efficiency and safety of mining production.

Intelligent Mine complex allows increasing of the utilization of haul trucks and excavators up to 20-25% and drilling rigs up to 35%, as well as reduce costs for maintenance by 10-15% a year.
