4 companies express interest in oil refinery

Four international companies – CPP-MAX (Mongolia-China consortium), ISN (Mongolia-UK JV), a Mongolia-Canada consortium, and a Mongolia-China consortium – have so far expressed their interest in building the proposed oil refinery in Bor-Undur soum in Khentii aimag, according to Industry Minister D. Erdenebat.  The tender for the refinery has already been announced. Government Resolution No. 75 of 2016 put the annual capacity of the plant at 2.3 million tons.

The Minister also revealed that a working group has been given the responsibility to work out the preliminary arrangements before a tender for building the 540-km oil pipeline between the refinery and Dornod aimag is announced.  The project would be under a concession agreement.
