Energy Resources exports 54% of total coal export

Some 64 per cent of the total coal exported in the first nine months of this year went through the Gashuunsukhait port, most of it from the Tavan Tolgoi deposit. The total amount exported was 8.7 million tonnes, of which the share of Energy Resources alone was 4.7 million tonnes, while State-owned Erdenes Tavan Tolgoi, which last year started exporting coal from the West Tsankh deposit, exported 3.9 million tonnes.  ETT hopes its export figures for the whole year to reach 6 million tonnes.

National Statistical Office figures show that in the first three quarters of 2014, Mongolia exported 13.5 million tonnes of coal, an increase of nearly two million tonnes year-on-year. Even with more sales, however, export income decreased by $150 million because of lower prices.
